About Us
Meet the Farmers
2 Bottom Plow Farms is owned and operated by the Matt LaFontaine family in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Matt grew up on his family’s grain and poultry farm near Monroe, IN. He is a 1991 graduate of Adams Central H.S. Matt has a degree in Mechanical engineering from the University of Dayton, where he graduated in 1995. He has worked for the University of Dayton Research Institute, Indiana Department of Transportation, Navistar, Solstice Medical, Ultra Electronics, and L3Harris. Matt’s agricultural roots run deep. He was a 2-year FFA president, an FFA Star Agribusinessman, and a member of 4-H.
Gina was raised in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. She moved to the United States in 1999. Gina graduated from Academia Americana H.S. She attended Universidad Tecnologica de Honduras. Gina has worked for InterContinental Hotels, as a nanny, and as a bookkeeper.
Matt and Gina are loving and dedicated parents to Sophia, Milana, Diego, Lorenzo, Maria, and Lucia.
History of 2 Bottom Plow Farms
Matt has always been an integral part of his family’s farming operation, gathering eggs and raising row crops. 2 Bottom Plow Farms has grown from humble beginnings. As a teenager, Matt began growing and selling produce. His specialties were melons, pumpkins, and popcorn. During high school and college, Matt operated a hay and straw baling business with his uncle. In 2003, Matt expanded his farming operation, with the purchase of a 160 acre corn and soybean farm. In 2008, the operation officially became known as “2 Bottom Plow Farms.”
The logo was inspired by an antique plow found in the woods on the property. It represents a proud agricultural history, endurance, and the high value of productive labor.
What We Produce
2 Bottom Plow Farms provides locally grown produce to the Fort Wayne metropolitan area. Currently, sweet corn, pumpkins and gourds are produced. Only the sweetest varieties of sweet corn are grown. It takes special care and attention to nurture these delicate varieties. Our produce is sold directly to consumers and distributed through a local produce auction.
In addition to locally grown produce, corn and soybeans grown by 2 Bottom Plow Farms provide animal feed, biodiesel fuel, and ethanol.
